CEO Briefing for Affiliates

Happy New Year!

It is with great excitement that I announce the release of The 2019 UCP/ANCOR Case for Inclusion Report. The report will be unveiled at a press conference on Thursday, January 10, 2019, in Washington, DC.

Click here to register for the Press Conference.

ANCOR’s CEO, Barbara Merrill and I will speak at the press conference where we will highlight the well-researched data included in this important report.

The press conference also provides an opportunity to recognize the successful outcomes of the annual review. Since, 2006, The Case for Inclusion has been instrumental in promoting federal policy that advocates for quality services for individuals with I/DD. Also, The Case for Inclusion has served as a tool for providers, shaped congressional debates, and influenced state participation in national core indicators.

Through comprehensive research, the 2019 report highlights the accomplishments of Medicaid programs, serving people with I/DD and their families across the country and ranks each state’s performance in their ability to support people with disabilities. Components of the report include a list of the most successful Medicaid program, as well as, a list of state jurisdictions in need of improvement. In addition, a key indicator provides data that reflects the current HCBS waiting list in the U.S.

As always, The Case for Inclusion Report promotes quality of life and provides lawmakers and advocates with recommendations for federal and state legislative consideration.

Each UCP Affiliate will receive, via e-mail, a link to the report on or before January 10, 2019. It is our hope The Case for Inclusion will serve as a vital advocacy tool for the UCP National Network in partnership with the ANCOR Foundation. Together, we can and will continue to support and advocate for sound public policy that benefits our disability community.

Wishing all of you a wonderful, productive and blessed 2019!

Armando

Volunteer Engagement Call February 26, 2019 12:00 PM ET

Topic: UCP and CPF: A Powerful Opportunity for Collaboration

Over the past few years, The Cerebral Palsy Foundation and UCP National have developed a good relationship as we’ve shared a vision for the disabilities community and learned about the resources available in both organizations.

Both CPF and UCP believe there can be more power in working together and have developed an “Invitation to Collaborate”. Some of CPF’s initiatives such as their efforts to “Implement Early Detection”, promote inclusion through “Just Say Hi in the Schools,” and distribute their free app, “The CP Channel”, afford tremendous opportunities to work together, in a win-win-win scenario.

Richard Ellenson, CPF, CEO will be presenting elements of these initiatives and a vision for opportunities for Affiliates. We invite Affiliate volunteers to join the call to learn about collaboration. Presenter information: Richard Ellenson has brought enormous vision and energy to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, spearheading major new initiatives as well as building robust partnerships with groups as diverse as ABC Television, Microsoft, and the NYC Department of Education. Prior to this, he was founder of two companies, Blink Twice and Panther, which helped reimagine the field of assistive technology. In his earlier career, he was an advertising executive, penning the classic line, “It’s Not TV. It’s HBO.” He has been the recipient of two NIH Grants as well as numerous awards. Mr. Ellenson is the father of a 20-year-old son, Thomas, who has cerebral palsy. He has worked tirelessly to create awareness about people with disabilities, and to share stories about their vibrant lives.

Affiliate Topical Call January 21, 2019 3:00 PM ET

Topic: The Power of Stay Interviews

Nonprofits have never been more challenged to find and retain qualified help, particularly in times of historic unemployment. Just bodies aren’t enough, though, as employee engagement hasn’t improved during this century and 2 of every 3 workers are “sleepwalking” or “sabotaging” in their jobs, Gallup tells us. There ARE solutions, though, and the best of these is for managers to own their talent and conduct Stay Interviews with their teams. Join Dick Finnegan, noted expert by Forbes and BusinessWeek, as he leads us through his top-selling book on the power we bring to our executives and leaders by implementing Finnegan’s Arrow and Stay Interviews. Dick Finnegan is known to several UCP Affiliates as a Speaker, Author, & CEO, C-Suite Analytics & The Finnegan Institute.

The date for the call had to be changed because of the speaker’s availability and I apologize for the Holiday conflict. The call will be recorded and you will be able to request the recording following the call.

PointWorthy

The PointWorthy Program provides individuals a way to process reward points into cash donations for a wide variety of charities. This could be an easy way for Affiliates to increase their donor program. Using PointWorthy is a way for supporters of your non-profit organization make a donation by using their accumulated reward points from hotels, airlines etc. You can review the program at the following website: https://www.pointworthy.com/site/organizations.xhtml. The donor must set-up an account and process the donation but it is an easy tracking method for managing donations and provides the donor a monthly summary of account activity.
